Harold Francis Wrightington
On July 4th 2008, Harold left this world for heaven comfortably and in peace. Harold will forever be an inspiration and hero to all who knew him and were blessed to witness the strength, courage and selflessness he displayed while fighting his monumental battle. Rest In Peace Harold, you will be forever the "brightest" star in the sky for all of us whose hearts you have touched.
Special Message and Request from Harold's family
Sandra, Matthew and I want to take a moment to say THANK YOU for
everything you have done for our family during Harold's illness. To
borrow a phrase, "It takes a village...." could not have been more
accurate this past year. In one way or another each of you has reached
out to help support our family in a huge variety of ways. And for this,
we will be eternally indebted to all of our family, friends; new and
old, neighbors, teachers and classmates, coaches and teammates... The
entire community really!!!
Outside of our community, another group played a huge role in helping to
brighten Harold's life, The Make-A-Wish Foundation. Once Harold
expressed a desire to visit Disney, these wonderful people put
everything in place and had us ready to go in under 24 hours. The four
days in Florida gave Harold a much needed respite from all the
procedures and treatments he faced on a sometimes daily basis. It also
provided Sandra, Matthew and myself a whole host of wonderful memories.
The Make-A-Wish Foundation of New Jersey will be holding a series of
three "Walk for Wishes" walkathons to help raise money. The North
Jersey walk is being held on Sunday, October 5th at Liberty State Park
in Jersey City. October 5th (10/5) happens to be Harold's birthday. In
Harold's memory, I would like to invite each of you to join our team,
"Harold's Heros" and participate in the walk. It is my goal to recruit
a team of 105 walkers (there's that number again) with each walker setting a goal of $105 in pledges.
